Method and scope
Malaysian resident individual bracket tax for YA 2025, the verified year covered by the linked HASiL table. Enter chargeable income after deductions and reliefs; they are not applied again. Resident rebates (including the low-income rebate), zakat credits, PCB/MTD paid, special-rate/non-resident income, SOCSO/EIS and EPF payroll deductions are excluded. This is tax before rebates and credits, not take-home pay or an assessment of the 2027 Budget proposals.
Try the starting example
Annual resident chargeable income after reliefs: RM 60,000.
Resident bracket tax before rebates and credits: RM 2,600.00.
Compare one assumption at a time
Compare the change in estimated tax with the change in entered income. The effective rate on the whole income and the tax on an additional amount are different measures. Only the supported tax components are shown; this table does not expand the scope into a full return or payslip. These fictional scenarios use the starting inputs printed above, not your current entries in the interactive calculator.
| Annual resident chargeable income after reliefs | Resident bracket tax before rebates and credits | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| RM 54,000 | RM 1,940.00 | One changed input |
| RM 60,000 | RM 2,600.00 | Starting example |
| RM 66,000 | RM 3,260.00 | One changed input |
Are you using chargeable income and regular EPF wages correctly?
The income-tax tool uses chargeable income after reliefs for its supported assessment year. EPF instead uses regular monthly wages within its supported age and wage range. Official contribution bands can produce a step change at a wage boundary, so multiplying salary by a percentage can disagree with the displayed contribution.
To reproduce the table, reset the calculator, change only the named input and compare the result and any warning. Record the assumptions with your result. See worked planning examples and our calculation and correction process.
