How we calculate and maintain our tools
Hisab Kitab Global provides self-service calculators for people comparing borrowing, saving, investing and retirement scenarios across the supported countries and currencies. The useful result is an understandable calculation with visible assumptions. A projection alone cannot establish product suitability, loan approval or a statutory entitlement.

Follow the method from input to result
Each main calculator page includes its method, a worked example, interpretation notes and limitations. Financial models keep decimal precision internally and round figures for display. Small differences can arise if a bank rounds each month or uses different payment dates. Where a source publishes scheme rules, the guide links to that source so the applicable version can be checked.
Country-specific interpretation
International pages identify their own tax year, input definition, exclusions and sources. Canadian fixed-rate Home Loan calculations use semi-annual quoted-rate conversion; international investment contributions arrive at month end, whereas the Indian SIP illustration below uses the beginning of the month. Do not apply one tool’s convention to a different tool. International comparison tables reuse the calculator model and change one input at a time. They illustrate sensitivity, not independent certification or live market quotations.
Our timing conventions
- EMI: monthly reducing balance, a constant annual quoted rate divided by twelve, and the first payment one month after disbursement. Fees and rate resets are excluded.
- SIP: contributions at the beginning of the month using a nominal annual rate divided by twelve. Step-up contributions increase on each investment anniversary.
- RD: each monthly deposit grows for its own remaining term under a quarterly-compounding illustration. Actual bank instalment and rounding rules can differ.
- Retirement: expenses rise until retirement; annual spending at the start of each retirement year is discounted using a real return that includes the inflation denominator.
- XIRR: signed, dated cash flows and a 365-day annualisation convention. Some cash-flow patterns have more than one mathematical root.
Tax years and statutory schemes
The Indian income-tax tool automatically uses the latest supported rules, currently FY 2026–27, and displays the applicable year alongside the inputs. It models ordinary taxable income for a resident individual below sixty, up to ₹50 lakh. Other income types and individual exemptions may need a different calculation. Pension and savings illustrations distinguish contribution balances, interest, payout income and nominee benefits.
Scheme rates can change. An editable or stated assumed rate is not a promise that the rate applies to your account today or for its full life. Check the account opening date, eligibility, deposit limits, withdrawal conditions and current official notification.
Sources we use for verification
- Income Tax Department: rates and computation
- EPFO: contribution allocation rules
- PFRDA: current APY information and the linked contribution chart on our retirement page
- India Post: savings scheme rules

Checks and corrections
The project has reference-case checks for loan repayments, deposit timing, tax rebate boundaries, withdrawal depletion, contribution reconciliation, APY lookup and invalid inputs. They help detect regressions; they do not certify every financial or legal situation. We avoid displaying invented customer ratings, review totals or guaranteed investment returns.
If a number seems wrong, send the calculator name, entered values, expected result and the source or statement supporting it through our contact page. Use fictional examples or redact personal details. We can investigate a reproducible calculation more effectively than an unexplained screenshot.
