Method and scope
2026 single Irish resident PAYE employee, no qualifying children, full standard personal and employee credits (EUR 2,000 each). Income tax uses EUR 44,000 at 20%, then 40%. The monthly pay illustration also deducts standard USC (exempt up to EUR 13,000) and Class A employee PRSI, assuming 52 equal weeks, with 39 weeks at 4.2% and 13 at 4.35%, and the weekly low-pay PRSI credit. Assumes a working-age employee subject to Class A throughout. Pension/PRSA deductions, MyFutureFund auto-enrolment, benefits-in-kind, other credits, joint assessment, medical-card USC, additional income and payroll rounding are excluded. Pay is an annual average before those other deductions, not an actual payslip.
Try the starting example
Annual gross employment pay (52 equal weekly payments): €60,000.
Estimated income tax: €11,200.00.
Compare one assumption at a time
Compare the change in estimated tax with the change in entered income. The effective rate on the whole income and the tax on an additional amount are different measures. Only the supported tax components are shown; this table does not expand the scope into a full return or payslip. These fictional scenarios use the starting inputs printed above, not your current entries in the interactive calculator.
| Annual gross employment pay (52 equal weekly payments) | Estimated income tax | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| €54,000 | €8,800.00 | One changed input |
| €60,000 | €11,200.00 | Starting example |
| €66,000 | €13,600.00 | One changed input |
What changes when you contribute to a PRSA?
Compare the PRSA tool’s first-year eligible contribution and income-tax saving with its projected fund. The pay calculator excludes PRSA deductions and MyFutureFund, so the two headline results cannot simply be added together to create a payslip. Age and relevant earnings affect the relief illustration.
To reproduce the table, reset the calculator, change only the named input and compare the result and any warning. Record the assumptions with your result. See worked planning examples and our calculation and correction process.
