Growth Projection

Method and scope

Personal PRSA accumulation from employee contributions only. The first-year income-tax-relievable amount uses the age-related earnings percentage (15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 35%, 40%) and the EUR 115,000 earnings ceiling. First-year income-tax saving assumes the same single PAYE profile as the tax calculator; there is no USC/PRSI relief or refund reinvestment. All contributions are invested, including any amount above the relief ceiling. Future tax relief is not projected. End the accumulation period by age 75; deemed vesting and imputed distributions are not modelled. Return is an assumed nominal annual rate after fees, compounded monthly; contributions arrive at month end. Employer contributions, other pension arrangements using the same relief limit, State Pension, MyFutureFund, drawdown taxes and benefit limits are excluded.

Try the starting example

Current balance: €10,000; Monthly contribution: €300; Annual relevant employment earnings: €60,000; Age at end of first tax year: 35; Assumed annual return (nominal): 5%; Years: 20.

Projected balance: €150,436.50.

Compare one assumption at a time

Only the assumed investment return changes; contribution inputs stay fixed. Check any eligibility or contribution-limit warning before using a result. A projected balance does not establish withdrawal income or tax relief. Where no editable return is supported, use the profile-specific interpretation below. These fictional scenarios use the starting inputs printed above, not your current entries in the interactive calculator.

What changes when you contribute to a PRSA?

Compare the PRSA tool’s first-year eligible contribution and income-tax saving with its projected fund. The pay calculator excludes PRSA deductions and MyFutureFund, so the two headline results cannot simply be added together to create a payslip. Age and relevant earnings affect the relief illustration.

To reproduce the table, reset the calculator, change only the named input and compare the result and any warning. Record the assumptions with your result. See worked planning examples and our calculation and correction process.
