Method and scope
2026 Canadian federal bracket tax on ordinary taxable income after deductions. Applies the 14%, 20.5%, 26%, 29% and 33% bands. This deliberately shows tax BEFORE the basic personal amount and all other credits. Provincial/territorial tax, Quebec abatement, CPP/QPP, EI, capital-gains rules, alternative minimum tax and benefits are excluded. It is not a combined Canadian tax bill or take-home pay.
Try the starting example
Annual federal taxable income after deductions (not gross salary): $60,000.
Federal bracket tax before credits (no provincial tax): $8,496.01.
Compare one assumption at a time
Compare the change in estimated tax with the change in entered income. The effective rate on the whole income and the tax on an additional amount are different measures. Only the supported tax components are shown; this table does not expand the scope into a full return or payslip. These fictional scenarios use the starting inputs printed above, not your current entries in the interactive calculator.
| Annual federal taxable income after deductions (not gross salary) | Federal bracket tax before credits (no provincial tax) | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| $54,000 | $7,560.00 | One changed input |
| $60,000 | $8,496.01 | Starting example |
| $66,000 | $9,726.01 | One changed input |
Are you comparing a mortgage term with its amortization period?
Use the amortization period in the payment calculator. The Canadian fixed-rate Home Loan model converts a semi-annually compounded quoted rate to monthly payments, but holds it unchanged across the illustration. A renewal at a different rate changes the remaining schedule. The RRSP tool separately requires your own available contribution room.
To reproduce the table, reset the calculator, change only the named input and compare the result and any warning. Record the assumptions with your result. See worked planning examples and our calculation and correction process.
